Scoring WIP


Hey, all! Apologies for being quite inactive since last update. Finally upgraded to a new workstation and I spent the last couple of weeks setting it up and playing through my backlog. Now that I've put it through its paces, and gotten the project repo set up again I can keep working on Hammer.

A small peek at the next mini-update, likely dropping this week.

First implementation of Scoring as well as a Scoreboard that shows up when you reach the final exit or die. It only works for BRANCH-type missions for now because it depends on a couple of variables that only those missions use.


Score increments when:

  • Destroying an enemy
    • Amount dependent on enemy type
    • Bonus for destroying an entire squad
  • Completing a wave
    • Amount dependent shown during the wave preview
    • Will be changed to completing a contract when objective-type waves arrive
  • Activating the final exit
    • +20% bonus to your total score

Rank is a straight tier comparison so it'll be difficult or even impossible to achieve a high rank during SHORT missions while LONG missions should give you plenty of opportunity to buff your rank. 

Also thinking about other opportunities to boost your score for a higher rank like Accuracy or Repair ratings. Maybe if your total accuracy is above a threshold or you take less than a certain amount of damage, you get +10% bonus to your score each. It's still up in the air.

In other news, the BRANCH mission waves have been separated from the old WAVE battles and tweaked so they're more manageable without regular armor/health restores. The WAVE missions still have the same big numbers so jump in there for now if you miss that intensity.
