Screen Effects Revisit WIP


Taking a break from mechanics to play around with shaders after more reading up on them. Also some optimization in the works. Small peek at what's coming up in the next update.

Converted the "Edge" screen effect into additive blending so it'll iterate on the base color instead of replacing it. The conversion also removed some extraneous processes so it should be faster. Examples using different palettes below.

NOTE: effects have been exaggerated for visibility. Its significantly more subtle in the build which minimizes the artifacting.

Then I figured out how to get it to fade away with distance from the view. Also went back and applied this to the Lit Outline effect. This should stop it from "popping" in from the fog.

In other news, working on a pooling system to mitigate stuttering and frame dips when spawning enemies and projectiles. Will try to get it playable by next week.
